I am starting a project to build a custom car in SketchUp. Here is the wheel, complete with a tire. It took me about an hour to do :P
I call it the JH30 SS1, because every good wheel needs a good name.

I’ve been using Sketchup since 2008, got really sucky when Trimble bought it.
I’ve got a bunch of auto related stuff that I’ve made over the years, lots.

Gotta start somewhere, right? Good luck with the rest of it.

It’s pretty good, and super easy to use. Got it in like... I think 2011?

Holy jesus christ. Still, do you like the Audi Sport reference in the wheel? Look closely. Oh, and that wheel is made to scale. It’s a 20 inch rim, and about 300 mm deep.

Well, I have had SketchUp since 2011-2012, cannot remember which, but yeah, it’s great!

Try downloading Rhino. It’s a lot friendlier to round shapes, so you should be able to push further creatively. It has a really short steep learning curve, but it’s an easy program.

Well, SketchUp isn’t friendly at all to curves, but I love it! It’s so easy to use, and I have had it for many years.
